About Daventry Contact

Daventry Contact, a registered charity since 1991, helps those in need of household furniture in the Daventry district and South Northants district.

We collect donated furniture and deliver to homes and sheltered accommodation, helping many families and individuals every year.  Problems encountered by our clients can include poverty fuelled by low income, disability, domestic violence, unemployment, homelessness and in some cases mental health and learning difficulties.  By helping and caring for their needs, we hope our clients can experience better lives.

Our Goals

  1. The relief of poverty by the provision of furniture, other household accessories and/or services calculated to reduce need, hardship or distress
  2. The relief of persons with mental health problems requiring treatment including persons suffering from emotional distress by the provision of assistance and
  3. The advancement of the christian religion in England and Wales

Our operations are carried out by employees and volunteers.  We provide training opportunities through employment for the disadvantaged, including those with learning difficulties, to build skills, competences and confidence through work experience and life skills training.

Daventry Contact, by the nature of our activities, support important local authrority corporate objectives.  We help divert unwanted furniture from landfill by reusing it.  We take working electrical goods and PAT test them before redistribution.  We receive referrals from West Northamptonshire Council, housing associations, Citizens Advice Bureau, family support workers and other referral officers.
